A PERSON died after being struck by a train on the Weymouth-Waterloo line.
Police said a person was pronounced dead at the scene following an incident at New Milton in the New Forest, Hampshire.
A police cordon was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident on the evening of Saturday, November 16.
Rail services were halted while the incident was dealt with.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to New Milton station shortly after 9pm on Saturday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Train operator South Western Railway said at the time of the incident: "We have received reports that a person has been struck by a train between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst.
"Our response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident.
"In order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area."
