A VILLAGE road is to be closed for a gas main to be replaced.

Shillingstone Lane in Okeford Fitzpaine will be shut from outside Wessex Park Homes to outside N D Young Transport Ltd (in both directions).

The closure, which begins on November 25, will be a distance of approximately 240 metres.

It will provide SGN with safe access to replace a gas main and it is expected that the work will be completed by December 13. 

An alternative vehicular route will be signposted using Shillingstone Lane, Poplar Hill, A357, Castle Lane and vice versa.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
