A Bridport man has appeared in court for allegedly causing a fatal crash on New Year's Day.
Joshua Jack Craven, aged 22, of Trinity Way, Bridport, appeared in Weymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 13, following a fatal crash on January 1, 2024, on the A35 at Kingston Russell, Dorchester.
He is charged with causing death by dangerous driving and death by driving without due care or consideration whilst over the limit of a specified drug, namely a cannabinoid, of which he is alleged to have had 2.2 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of blood, over the limit.
No plea has been entered and the case has been sent to Bournemouth Crown Court on December 12, 2024.
At 1.34pm on Monday, January 1, Dorset Police received a report of a three-vehicle car crash on the A35 near Kingston Russell.
Following the incident road closures were put in place between Dorchester and Bridport while emergency services responded to the collision and an examination of the scene was carried out.
