TEMPERATURES are set to tumble next week in what could be the first cold spell of the season.
Over the next few days, high pressure will gradually subside and allows winds to start to come in from the north or northwest, the Met Office said.
Dorset-based weather enthusiast UK Extreme Weather said it was too early to tell for now what will happen as weather models are currently in disagreement.
However, he said from Sunday there would be a cooling with daytime temperatures expected to be in single figures.
By the middle of next week, maximum temperatures will reach between 5C and 7C during the day.
UK Extreme Weather said: “If clouds clear and winds drop overnight frost is almost a certainty.”
He said any snow predictions should be ignored for now as generally Dorset remains dry during a northerly flow.
He added: “It would require an approaching low from the Atlantic bumping into cold air for our chances of snow, this isn’t out of the question but is certainly an outsider for now.
“Key message is it will turn colder & in the wind it will feel like winter but expecting it to be mainly dry.”
Fellow weather enthusiast Dorset’s Weather Spotter said: “There is the possibility of the weather turning colder over the next week or some but how cold and whether we see any snow it’s too early to tell. It’s something we are keeping an eye on for now.”
