Dorset Council has apologised after a two-minute-silence at a remembrance service was held at the wrong time – interrupting others.
The authority held a short remembrance service on Armistice Day yesterday outside County Hall in Dorchester.
But the two-minute silence to remember the fallen - which should have been observed at 11am as is traditional - was held five minutes early.
It meant that as others nearby were observing the silence at the correct time, they could hear the names of fallen servicemen being read out at the County Hall service.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: “We are sorry that the timings didn't quite align at our service of remembrance yesterday, it was not intentional.
“Everyone in attendance observed the two-minute silence and we are grateful to the Royal British Legion, members of the armed forces, organisations, schools, and Dorset Council employees who came to pay their respects.”
