A DORSET beach popular for fishing may soon be able to offer a snack and an alcoholic drink.
The Chesil Beach Café, in the corner of a small public car park at the end of Bullers Way, Abbotsbury is asking for a Premises Licence to be able to sell alcohol.
An application from Sally Allan has been lodged with Dorset Council for sales from 10am to 10pm Monday to Thursday and 10am until 11pm for Friday to Sunday, the hours also applying for ‘late night refreshments.’ The application says that the beachside café is separated from the car park by bollards and offers outdoor seating and takeaway facilities with both the car park and public toilets open 24-hours.
It says customers will be able to sit outside and have a drink, or take their drinks away from the café.
Said the application: “The licensee does not foresee any neighbour issues due to there being no neighbours within 3/4 of mile and only accessible by a dead-end road,” with a request to start sales ‘as soon as possible.’ Public comments on the licensing application remain open until December 5th.
The beach has always been popular for fishing, many often staying overnight.
