A TAXI driver is furious and sickened after a plant pot was thrown through her cab window, putting her out of work for more than a week.
Christina, a self-employed taxi driver who did not want to give her surname amid fears she is being personally targeted, had her taxi cab broken into overnight in Poundbury.
The car was parked behind an electric gate near her property when the stone pot was lobbed through the window. Christina, who also works as a lollipop lady, says nothing was taken but believes the perpetrators had been looking for cash.
The damage has meant that Christina has been unable to work for a week, though she has been able to continue as a lollipop lady.
She said: "I felt quite sick when I saw it. I didn't believe it. I wondered why my lights were flashing and thought it was odd that my window was down. I looked in the car and I did feel quite sick, it was awful.
"I will have been out of work and I have got to pay to get the car back on the road.
"I am sure it is not as bad as a house, but even so somebody has gone through your things and turned everything out. It is disgusting."
Christina adds that social media is 'awash' with similar stories of vehicle damage, break-ins and thefts in Dorchester, particularly in the last few weeks. This includes other taxi drivers and van drivers.
The Echo has attempted to contact other victims.
Christina said: "We (victims) are very angry, absolutely furious.
"Behind all this, there are people who have to get to work.
"It is emotional, it is stressful because there is no income. It is very upsetting.
"I have had lots of really good nice messages from people offering to help me. That has been a big boost."
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "It is reported that between 10pm on Tuesday, November 5 and 7am on Wednesday, November 6, damage was caused to the window of a vehicle in Dorchester.
"Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team are aware of the incident.
