A DOG walker and his pet had to be pulled from some mud during an emergency rescue mission.
The man and his two dogs became stuck in mud on Studland Heath while out for an evening walk at around 5.30pm on Sunday, November 10.
Although the walker and one dog was rescued, another dog went missing.
Swanage Coastguard has asked residents and visitors to the heath to keep an eye out for the missing black and white springer/collie cross dog called Barney.
A spokesman added: “Coastguard teams started searching and located a male and his dog in a wet area close to Little Sea.
“The male out walking was looking for another dog that was heard barking. Following the rescue both Coastguard and fire searched the heath for the missing dog using thermal cameras but there has been no further sign of the dog.
“Anyone in the area of little sea is requested to take care as the ground conditions are very wet. If the missing dog is sighted, please do not put yourself at risk but call 999 [and ask for] Coastguard/fire.
“The male was assisted to firm land and taken to his car at Knoll Beach.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s spokeswoman added: “Two fire engines from Swanage were mobilised along with the one fire engine and the technical rescue team from Poole.
“Crews assisted the coastguard with the extrication of one person and one dog from mud and search for a second dog which was missing.
“Due to conditions, the search for the dog was called off and our stop came in at 8:15pm.”
