A “LANDMARK” car that has been in a ditch on the side of the road for months has finally been removed.
Dorset Traffic Cops arranged the recovery of a silver Mercedes GL that has been abandoned along the A35 on the approach to Lytchett Minster.
The stranded SUV was towed out of the ditch by a recovery truck and later placed onto the back of it on Sunday morning, November 10.
Traffic officers arranged for a road closure that lasted for just over an hour while the recovery took place.
Dorset Traffic Cops said on their social media account: “Following on from our previous post about the ’landmark’ on the A35, Upton Bypass, a Mercedes GL was recovered this morning by Bourne Recovery.
“Including the placement and collection of the cones and signs, the carriageway was closed until 8.30am, a little longer than expected, but we were surprised to have found so many personal possessions in the vehicle which had fallen out.
“The investigation into the collision remains live, so we cannot disclose more at this time.
“Apologies if you were inconvenienced by the closure, but thank you.”
The car is believed to have been on its side along the bypass since September and was guarded by police tape.
