A ONE kilometre stretch of road at Morcombelake will be permanently closed to traffic from Monday for road repairs.
An emergency order has been in place after serious problems were discovered in recent weeks.
The closure order for Carters Lane could remain in place for 18months while engineers deal with the partial collapse of a section of the road.
The affected section runs from the A35 on the eastern edge of Morcombelake near the junction with Star Lane/Carters Lane, eastward to its junction with North Road on the south western edge of North Chideock.
The overall length is just over 1.2km.
Dorset Council say that emergency access will be maintained at all times and local diversions will be signed, with further information available from the council on 01305 221020.
Dorset Council was unable to provide any further details about the closure when asked on Friday.
