Residents of a retirement community have knitted a touching remembrance display using more than 1,000 knitted poppies.

The striking display united residents of Mulberry Fields in Sherborne, with an impressive 1,400 poppies installed on a memorial tree.

Set to be unveiled this Remembrance Sunday, November 10, organiser say the project aims to embody the spirit of togetherness and reflection of the Platinum Skies retirement home community.

Wool for the massive project was donated to the cause from residents, with around 20 dedicating their time to knitting and crocheting the vibrant poppies.

Sarah Richards, Community Manager, expressed her pride in the initiative, stating, “The fantastic Poppy Project has truly brought our homeowners together, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. This striking and empowering installation around the tree is a heartfelt tribute to those we have lost.”

The project serves as a Remembrance Memorial, with the public invited to reflect on the day. All contributions will be directed to the British Legion Poppy Appeal.
