Dorset County Hospital has received a big funding boost for a unit which cares for poorly babies.
The Shetland Performance Display (SPD) Team has donated £1,000 to the hospital's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
The money was raised from the team's performances at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show and the Dorset County Show in 2023.
The SCBU was chosen as sisters Delanie and Monroe White from the Portman Hunt Pony Club were both looked after by the unit when they were born, along with their brother, Royston.
Delanie and Monroe now both perform as part of the SPD team and wanted to do something to say thank you to the hospital for the care they received.
The SPD team is a group of registered Shetland ponies which put on display races, relays and other performances predominantly around the South West of England.
Simon Pearson, head of charity at Dorset County Hospital, said: “This wonderful support for our hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit from the brilliant Shetland Performance Display Team is very much appreciated.
"Well done to everyone at the club for such fantastic fundraising, you are an inspiration.”
The baby unit recently received a major funding boost of £15,400 from the Maiden Castle Farm Sunflower Trail, organised every year by the Hoskin family to raise funds for charity.
