A WEYMOUTH hotel is asking for a change of use to a ground floor café/bar with retail use on the first floor.
The application is for a vacant former restaurant, The Pie & Ale House, at 2 Queen Street adjacent to the town’s railway station.
The previous owner was granted planning permission to convert the building to a hotel in July 2020 with the work to strip out the fittings started, but not completed.
The new owners, from London, now say they would like to change the ground floor to a café/bar with small kitchen, converting the first floor to retail use, with no changes to the external appearance of the building, apart from repairs and redecoration.
Dorset Council’s licensing team has confirmed that the building currently has a Premises Licence which covers the ground and first floor and will need a variation to that licence, or a new licence.
Public comments on the planning application, 2024/06086, remain open until November 22nd on the Dorset Council website.
