AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a 29-year-old motorcyclist who suffered severe injuries following a crash on the A35 near Bridport.
George Rex Aston was rushed to Southampton General Hospital but died from his injuries 12 days later.
Assistant coroner for Dorset, Grant Davies, opened the inquest into his death at Bournemouth Town Hall on November 4.
Coroner’s officer, Grace Monro, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that George was born on June 1, 1995 in Chard.
She added that he was single, working as a delivery driver and living at an address in Tatworth, Chard, at the time of his death.
It was previously reported that at around 6.45pm on October 5, a silver Yamaha motorcycle was involved in a collision on the A35 west of Bridport near Eype.
Ms Monro said that George was travelling on his motorcycle when he lost control and came off near the Crown Roundabout.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with severe injuries but was pronounced dead on October 17 from a traumatic head injury.
Mr Davies adjourned the inquest until June 24, 2025 at 10am and requested statements from the police, ambulance service, George’s family and GP.
