A man has been seriously injured in a crash in West Dorset.
A two-vehicle crash was reported on the A356 between Winyards Gap Inn and Corscombe turning, involving a silver Volvo XC40 and a silver Volkswagen Touran.
Emergency services attended and the driver of the Volkswagen, a man aged in his 40s, was taken by air ambulance to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious.
His next of kin has been informed.
There were no other reports of serious injuries.
Police and the ambulance service are on the scene.
The A356 is closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 10.31am of a two-vehicle collision on the A356 near Chedington.
"Officers have attended the scene, along with the ambulance service, and road closures have been put in place.
"One person has been taken to hospital, we do not have a condition update at this time. Officers remain at the scene."
Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision.
“I would urge any witnesses to the collision, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please make contact with us.
“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These are necessary to enable the emergency services to safely respond to the incident and for the scene to be examined.”
