Two designer watches have been stolen from a car in Dorchester.
The car parked on Celtic Crescent was broken into, with women’s Rolex and Tag Heuer watches stolen from inside.
Attempts have been made by the alleged offenders to sell the watches at a jewellers in the town, but they were unsuccessful after staff at the shop became suspicious and the whereabouts of the watches are unknown.
Following enquiries, a 28-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and has been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
Police Constable Glen Caddy, of Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are fully aware of a series of reports of vehicle crime in recent weeks and are exploring all lines of enquiry available to us.
“In this incident, we have obtained CCTV images of a man we would like to identify from the jewellery shop. If anyone has information about his identity, please get in touch with Dorset Police.
“Our patrols have been stepped up in the areas known to be affected and we would ask anyone with concerns to please speak with us.
“We would like to thank the public for their assistance and providing us with information so far in relation to the current series of vehicle crime reports – this is vital to enabling us to conduct investigations and obtain an intelligence picture of what is happening.”
It is understood that the theft took place between 11pm on Thursday, October 24 and 5.25am on Friday, October 25.
