This old photo shows a peaceful scene of swans paddling along in Weymouth and the same scene looks very different today.
This old postcard comes from the Andy Hutchings Collection, a series of images collected by the local historian that were mostly taken by Edwin Seward.
The picture was taken at Alexandra Terrace, Commercial Road, Weymouth.
These houses were built in 1864 and marked the western boundary of Melcombe Regis before the major land reclamations of the 1920s.
The Portland Railway Hotel, which you can see on the left of the photo, is now no longer in use as a public house.
The houses to the right of the picture were subsequently demolished to provide the Commercial Road frontage for Weymouth bus station.
Here's how this scene looks today.....considerably different!
