An environmental group which works to keep our beaches and sea free from litter has received just over £500 in a recent donation.
Weymouth & Portland Lions Club President Ryan Hope met with Dave Taylor and Jane Fuhrmann, founders of the Weymouth and Portland Marine Litter Project to present them with a cheque for £554.
The primary goal of the organization is to develop community-driven projects that aim to reduce the pollution from litter in our seas and on our beaches.
The pair regularly host litter picks around Dorset, collecting items such as discarded fishing nets, lines, fish boxes, and other fishing-related debris.

They will then meticulously pick and sort these items with an aim to recycle as much as possible.
Their collection points are located at Weymouth Harbour, Poole, West Bay, and Lyme Regis. The funds generated from recycling contribute to the operational costs of the project.
Weymouth & Portland Lions Club has distributed grants to several organisations with money going to Weymouth Foodbank, Portland Foodbank, M.V. Freedom and Weymouth Street Pastors.
