A WEYMOUTH nursing home is planning to significantly re-model its site, including building a four storey extension.
The plans come from the Weymouth Nursing Home in Glendinning Avenue.
Altogether Care has asked planning consent from Dorset Council to demolish five buildings and erect a four storey block, including a basement, adding twelve new rooms and 520 square metres of available space.
The move will also allow the laundry to move from a single garage, which will be demolished, into the basement of the new building along with additional storage and space for plant and services.
The extension will be built mainly in brick, similar to the existing main building, with a mansard roof to be covered in zinc and a limited amount of wood cladding to break up the appearance of the building.
The application includes building four semi-detached three-bed homes on the Carlton Road North side of the site and increasing the number of parking spaces from two to eight.

The space for these will be achieved by the demolition of a bungalow at 11 Carlton Road North, owned by the company.
A planning statement says the new homes, similar to others in the street, could be used for staff accommodation, for sale, or for letting.
Comments on the proposals, which can be seen in full on the Dorset Council website, remain open to the public for comment until November 15.
