Injuries have been reported after two vehicles crashed on the A37 this morning.

Part of the A37 between Dorchester and Yeovil was closed following the collision, with the police, fire and ambulance services responding to the incident in Frampton.

The injuries are believed to be 'minor' according to Dorset Police.

Two fire engine crews from Dorchester and Weymouth were sent to the crash and made the vehicles safe.

The northbound carriageway on the A37 was closed between the Long Ash Service Station at the junction of Church Lane and the Frampton turn off at Grimstone

Traffic was also heavy in Maiden Newton as motorists tried to avoid the A37 and use the A356 to circumnavigate the road closure.

Motorists travelling  between Yeovil and Dorchester experienced delays due to the road closure.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 7.14am on Thursday, October we received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Long Ash Lane in Frampton.

"Officers are currently in attendance with the ambulance and fire services.

"Road closures have been put in place.

"Minor injuries have currently been reported."

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 7.25am today (October 24) to Long Ash Lane, Frampton following reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

"Two crews attended, from Dorchester and Weymouth; no-one was trapped, so firefighters made the vehicles safe."
