The Dorset History Centre will be closing for two weeks to undertake 'essential work' to its collections.
From Monday, November 25 to Friday, December 6 the archive centre will be closed to the public as it carries out work to provide better access to its archives.
It will therefore reopen on Wednesday, December 11 and will be open on Saturday, December 14, as it will be closed for the first Saturday of the month, when it usually opens on the weekend.
The centre on Bridport Road in Dorchester collects, preserves and make documents available to view; these include paper, parchment and printed documents as well as audio-visual material and digital records
It also cares for, and carries out conservation work on documents if necessary, provide copies of documents and supports projects relating to history and heritage in Dorset.
A spokesperson for Dorset History Centre said: "This work will help us to provide better access to our collections.
"All enquiries will be processed in the order they have been received as soon as possible after this period, therefore there will be some delays to our replies.
"If your enquiry is urgent, please call us on 01305 250550 and leave a message.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience."
