The investigation continues into the circumstances behind a fatal house fire in Weymouth.

Police have said no arrests have been made as they continue to investigate the circumstances behind a fire in Southdown Road that took place earlier this month.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “There is no further update at this time. Our investigation remains ongoing.”

The Echo reported on how emergency services were called to a property on Southdown Road in which a man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.59am on Friday, October 4 of a fire at an address in Southdown Road in Weymouth.

Officers attended the scene, along with the fire and ambulance services.

Very sadly, a man aged in his 70s was pronounced deceased at the scene and his family were informed.

Following further enquiries into the cause of the fire, it is believed to be suspicious and detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
