Anti-social behaviour amongst youths on Portland has been on the rise in recent weeks.
Reports of youths screaming, shouting and fighting has been increasing in Easton Gardens and Dorset Police has said it is working alongside partner agencies to tackle the issue.
Yesterday morning officers discovered a broken door to the public toilets, a smashed wine bottle, rubbish and vomit in the park.
Officers are now asking parents to step in and make sure that their children are educated on what kind of behaviour is acceptable and that they will not tolerate this kind of anti-social behaviour.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Portland is well known for being a tight knit community. And as such, it is really important to that sense of community that everyone plays their part.
"Over the last few weeks, anti-social behaviour has been increasing in Easton Gardens with reports of youths screaming, shouting, fighting, and leaving the place in an unacceptable condition.
"The litter that is being left behind, like last night, is not acceptable. It’s a small minority of people who are ruining it for the rest of the community.
"We want everyone to be able to enjoy the park. That is what they are designed for.
"So, if you know your children like to attend the area – especially in the evenings - don’t let them be a part of the problem.
"We are working with partner agencies to ensure that this poor behaviour doesn’t continue, however we ask that the community play their part in making sure that their children are educated on what is acceptable and what isn’t."
