Police seized around 100 wraps of a suspected class A drug from a property in Weymouth in connection with an arrest yesterday.

It comes after news that a man was arrested near Lower St Alban Street in Weymouth town centre yesterday following what plain clothed police say appeared to be a suspected drug deal.

Following a short foot chase, uniform officers located a person and made an arrest. Subsequently, the police recovered around 50 wraps of a class A drug, as well as a knife and other items that the police believed were involved in drug supply.

Today, officers carried out a drugs search at an address in the Park District following enquiries and seized a further 100 more wraps in what is suspected to be class A drugs.

A man remains in police custody in relation to the suspected offences.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Following on from yesterday’s arrest in Weymouth town centre, officers from Weymouth and Portland NPT have this morning conducted a drugs search warrant at an address in The Park District.

“At the address, officers seized around 100 more wraps of what we suspect to be Class A drugs. A male remains in custody in relation to the suspected offences.”
