Sewage has been discharged into the sea off the coast of Portland. 

Surfers Against Sewage is tracking real-time sewage discharge and pollution risks around the UK.

Storm sewage was discharged in beaches across the south west of England following heavy rain in the area. 

As of today (Thursday, October 17) sewage has been reported in the last 48 hours in Chesil Cove on Portland. 

A statement from Surfers Against Sewage said: "Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the past 48 hours.

"Chesil Cove is the southern extremity of the 29km pebble bank known as Chesil Beach. The Cove is very popular with scuba divers."

A sewage alert is also in place for Church Cliff Beach and the Front Beach in Lyme Regis.
