Dorset County Hospital has asked people to only visit its emergency department for life-threatening injuries.
The Dorchester-based hospital is currently 'very busy' and the hospital has asked that people with non-life threatening conditions use alternative forms of care.
A spokesperson for Dorset County Hospital said: "Our Emergency Department is currently very busy.
"Please only visit for life-threatening emergencies. Other services you can consider for non-life-threatening care:
"Local urgent treatment centres (UTCs), NHS 111, your GP and community pharmacies.
"Help us keep our Emergency Department for the real emergencies."
