A Dorset school has been listed as one of the top private schools in the world.

Port Regis School in Shaftesbury has been named as one of the top 150 private schools in the world by a panel of education consultants led by Carfax Education.

Not only did the school achieve this status, but it also made the top 10 of the best private UK Prep Schools 2024.

Port Regis, founded in 1881, is a day and boarding school for children aged 2-13.

Former pupils include the designer Jasper Conran, Princess Anne's children Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, and Prince Rashid bin El Hassan, a member of the Jordanian Royal Family.

The Schools Index provides a comprehensive overview of curriculum and fees, as well as practical information such as travel times to local airports. 

As well as formal criteria, such as academic results and preparation for university entry, schools are selected for their unique ethos, local and international reputation, and how they prepare pupils for life beyond academia, as well as looking at other areas such as technology and sustainability.

At present, full boarding fees are £13,995 for international students in year three – eight, £11,800 for A-F Form in year three – eight.

Day pupil fees for year three are £7,000, whilst day boarding fees for pupils in year four – eight are £8,775.
