Police swooped on a Weymouth seafront shop this afternoon - arresting a man on suspicion of drug related offences.

Several plain clothed officers, as well as uniformed officers, raided Amsterdam Market after receiving reports the store was selling products that contained class B drugs.

Officers could be seen placing items into large plastic bags as they seized what is thought to be illegal items.

A man was also seen escorted out of the premises in handcuffs by two police officers and placed into a van which left promptly.

It is not the first time officers have raided the shop.

In April officers from Dorset Police along with trading standards seized illegal vape, chewing tobacco and lighter products.

Whilst in March, the store was part of an operation that saw 18,000 cigarettes, 1,000 vapes and 7kg of hand-rolling tobacco seized from three Weymouth shops.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 11am on Tuesday, October 15 officers of the Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) executed a Section 32 PACE warrant at the Amsterdam Market on The Esplanade in order to conduct a search of the premises.

"It was reported that the store was selling products believed to contain suspected class B drugs.

"One person has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

"We have no further update at this time."
