A woman’s body has been found near a Dorset beach.

Emergency services were called to reports of someone in the water at around 10pm on Thursday.

A NPAS helicopter, air ambulance and HM coastguard also joined the search at Boscombe Beach.

After a two hour search by emergency services, a woman’s body was found in the water.

Now, Dorset Police are trying to contact the woman’s next of kin.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 10.30pm on October 10 from a member of the public raising concern for someone who they believed may have entered the water at Boscombe beach.

“Officers attended to assist the coastguard.

“At around 12.10am, officers received a report from the coastguard that the body of a woman had been found in the water.

“Very sadly, the woman - aged in her 40s and from Bournemouth - was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Efforts are being made to identify and inform her next of kin, and HM Coroner has been notified.”

Her death is not being treated as suspicious, police said.
