A MAN described by police as a 'prolific shoplifter' has been arrested on suspicion of breaching in Weymouth town centre.
Officers from Weymouth and Portland Police were out on patrol through the town yesterday when an individual was spotted.
A man was detained following a pursuit and will be facing court.
Following this, another man was also spotted by officers leaving a shop with a bottle of wine that had not been paid for.
He was then stopped given a dispersal notice from the town centre for the rest of the day.
A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: “My eagle-eyed colleagues spotted a prolific shoplifter who had bail conditions which he was breaching by popping into shops in town. A 'short' run later, after he began cycling away, and a male was arrested, charged and remanded to court.
“Another male was seen leaving a shop with a bottle of wine that had not been paid for. They were stopped, the wine recovered, reported to court and given a dispersal notice from the town centre for the rest of the day.”
