A dramatic picture shows the extend of flooding in West Dorset following heavy rain over the weekend.

Barrowland Lane, close to the picturesque village of Toller Porcorum, was hit by flooding over the weekend, with standing water thought to be around two-feet high in the area.  

Chairman of the parish council Neil Farmer took the picture of a car stuck in the water, and said that this incident was the fifth or sixth time this month that flooding has badly affected the road, saying that the immediate area has been badly waterlogged by rain.

Toller Pocorum is flooded at Barrowlands LaneToller Porcorum is flooded at Barrowlands Lane (Image: Neil Farmer) A flood alert was put in place for the Rivers Lim, Char, Winniford, Simene, Brit, Asker, Mangerton and Bride, but was removed earlier today (Monday) as there was no longer a threat of flooding, although standing water and debris still remain in the area.

It is not clear whether the road has been closed, and the fire service was not called to the incident involving the car.

Dorset Council have been approached for comment.
