A man whose home was searched told police that officers taking his cannabis grinder was “a violation”.

Kieran Commander, 22, pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drug - cannabis.

He appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court via video link from HMP Winchester where he is in custody for other matters.

The charge states that on December 28 in Weymouth, Commander had in his possession a quantity of cannabis.

Laura Lohk, prosecuting, said: “Police were called to a report of an assault on December 28.

“They went to a house to arrest the defendant.

“While there, some drugs were visible.

“They were seized and arrested.

“He was interviewed by police, where he gave a no-comment interview apart from saying: ‘I can’t believe you took my grinder, that is a violation’ and ‘Is that all the weed you found?’

“Police found 6.7 grams of cannabis, mushrooms and a metal grinder.”

Lee Christmas, mitigating, said: “He is a young man who suffers from Tourettes and ADHD.

“He self-medicates with cannabis which he finds helps.

“He is in the process of being prescribed medication.”

Commander was fined £80, and must pay a surcharge of £32 and court costs of £85.
