This letter writer is urging people to disinfect the area after picking up dog poo...
MOST dog owners clean up after their pet has defecated, but from what I have observed not well enough.
Just picking up the poo in a plastic bag is not sufficient.
All surfaces contaminated by the poo should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to eliminate the possibility of spreading disease.
