Tickets flew out the door for an evening hosted by footballing legend Paul Gascoigne in Weymouth.

Within 24 hours, £70 tickets for the talk and Q&A with Gazza sold out as football fanatics booked their place at the exclusive event at Weymouth FC's Bob Lucas Stadium.

The ticket price includes an exclusive 'meet and greet' and a printed 9x6 photograph with the star.

Affectionately known as Gazza, the former Newcastle, Tottenham, Rangers and Lazio midfielder was an icon of English football during the 1990s.

He will always be remembered for his dazzling ability on the ball and some of English football's most memorable moments - as well as his off-field antics.

First it was tears at Italia 90 after being booked in the semi-final against West Germany, before his sumptuous volley against Scotland at Wembley during Euro 96 endeared him to football fans across the country.

Gazza's health issues in his later years including his battle with alcohol are well known - but he is still revered by fans and thought to be one of the best England players of all time.

Commercial director for Weymouth FC, Ryan Park, said: "Gazza and his team have been fantastic to work with and incredibly supportive of the club from the start.

"The event sold out in just over 24 hours which speaks volumes about Gazza and we are delighted to have him as our guest .

The news of Gazza gracing the club follows on from another sporting legend to have recently appeared at the club.

In September, Olympic gold medallist Daley Thompson appeared before the club's Vanarama National League South game against Worthing.

The former Olympic decathlete was at the club to open its new disability facility for fans which includes an HD TV, complimentary beverages, heating, and bi-fold windows for viewing when the weather is poor.
