Sewage has been discharged into the sea off Portland. 

Surfers Against Sewage is tracking real-time sewage discharge and pollution risks around the UK.

Following heavy rains, storm sewage was discharged in beaches across the south west of England.

As of today (Monday, October 7) sewage has been reported in the last 48 hours in Chesil Cove on Portland. 

A statement from Surfers Against Sewage said: "Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the past 48 hours.

"Chesil Cove is the southern extremity of the 29km pebble bank known as Chesil Beach. The Cove is very popular with scuba divers.

"Although this is not an official bathing water, Wessex Water provide data on their assets impacting this beach from the surrounding area.

A sewage alert is also in place for Church Cliff Beach in Lyme Regis
