A cruise ship has made a surprise visit to Portland today.
MS Amadea arrived at Portland this morning at 7.43am assisted by tug Maiden Castle.
It left Bordeaux on Thursday, October 3 with 580 passengers onboard. MS Amadea was due to arrive in Lorient, France today but has came to Portland instead.
The ship is operated by Phoenix Reisen cruises and has 11 decks with 2 royal suites, 40 suites and 254 cabins.
It was built in 1991 by the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan as MS Asuka for Nippon Yusen Kaisha.
In 2006 she was replaced by the Asuka II and sold to her current owners, entering service with Phoenix Reisen.
The MS Amadea was also the setting for the German TV series Das Traumschiff which is also filmed onboard.
