A SMALL rural airstrip is asking Dorset Council to agree that the use of the site is legitimate for planning purposes.

The grass strip at Court Farm, Buckland Newton, described as Ridge Hill Airfield, claims that because it has been in use for ten years, or more, it has become exempt from the need to apply for a new planning consent.

A barn on the site is currently being used for the storage of an aircraft with statement from the farm, including logs recording airfield use.

A Dorchester resident, who keeps a light aircraft there, tells Dorset Council in a statement sworn at solicitors, how the use of the field goes back at least ten years.

Public comments on the application remain open until October 15.
