A biker has been seriously injured in a crash in Winfrith.

Police were called to the two-vehicle crash on the A352 outside the Red Lion Hotel at 8.07pm last night.

Police attended along with the ambulance service.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that police say are serious, but not life-threatening.

The road was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and was re-opened at 10.35pm.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 8.07pm on Wednesday, October 2 to a report of a vehicle collision involving a motorbike outside the Red Lion on the A352 at Winfrith.

"Officers attended with ambulance service and the motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

"Recovery was requested and the road reopened at around 10.35pm."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 8.07pm on Wednesday, October 2 to a road traffic collision near Winfrith Newburgh, Dorchester.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, and a doctor to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital."
