A care home in Weymouth has unveiled its very own bar during a fundraising event for a local group.

Residents at Anning House, on Cross Road, pulled their first pints at the newly created ‘Jurassic Inn’ which was built by the home’s chef, Jeremy Davis.

To celebrate the grand unveiling, the home hosted a fundraising event in aid of the Veterans Hub, raising a total of £260 in donations from the night.

The Veterans Hub was set up around eight years ago as a community project, with the intent of providing a safe and secure location for veterans and their families to come together in an environment that would enable them to socialise in a non-clinical setting in order to provide peer to peer support for each other.

The fundraiser saw residents and relatives gather for a ‘surf and turf’ dinner and drinks around the bar as well as taking part in a quiz hosted by Emma Lawless, the home’s deputy manager.

The cosy communal area now features various games, books, and of course – a bar where residents, along with their family and friends, will be able to enjoy their favourite tipple,

Heidi Williams, General Manager at Anning House, said: “It was wonderful to host our very first event in support of The Veterans Hub alongside our quiz.

“We are very thankful to Jeremy for making the bar a reality and to the team and visitors for raising money for the Veterans Hub.”
