A Weymouth shopworker has told of her experience after meeting a major TV star.
Hannah Waddingham, best known for starring in Ted Lasso and Benidorm, has been seen in and around Weymouth town centre while she's filming locally, and popped into the local Boots in New Bond Street.
Boots staff members Shannon Ellis and Jeanne Filosopo had an opportunity to chat with Ms Waddingham and even grab a selfie.
Shannon said: “She was really lovely and down to earth. I was really shocked to see her in here [Boots], I used to watch her in Benidorm and since then she has got really famous.”
She explained that her first reaction was ‘shock’ as she couldn’t believe that the star would actually be in the Weymouth store, explaining that she ‘asked her’ if she was Hannah Waddingham.
Shannon added: “She noticed that I was pregnant and asked me what I was having and was telling me about her daughter.
“Last Christmas we had (former Britain's Got Talent winner) George Sampson come in twice.”
It comes as former Neighbours star Guy Pearce has also been spotted in Weymouth.
Aussie actor Guy, known for films Memento and LA Confidential, was seen at the Asda supermarket.
A spokesperson for Asda said: “Everybody needs good Neighbours, so it’s great to hear that we’ve welcomed a new regular customer at our Weymouth store in recent weeks. We hope that they’ve taken advantage of Asda’s uncompromising value and picked up a few Mementos during their visit.”
The stars are among the cast for the production which sees Keira Knightley play the role of a travel journalist.
As part of the filming, three firework displays are being organised in Portland Harbour.
They were initially planned for today but will now take place on Wednesday, October 2, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
Each display will take place for up to five minutes.
As reported by the Echo, Portland Port initially issued a ‘local notice to mariners’.
The firework displays will be conducted from Quest 2 and a temporary exclusion zone will be in place with a radius of 250 metres centred on Quest 2.
All vessels and people must keep clear for the duration of the firework displays.
Dorset Council have been working alongside producers of the Netflix show.
A spokesperson said: "Dorset Council is keen to support the creative industries with a film-friendly environment and welcomes requests from production companies seeking to film in the area. We encourage film and high-end TV productions to consider Dorset because we recognise the benefits these projects can bring the wider economy, boosting tourism and hospitality, generating income for local people and businesses.
"Our Film Dorset team help facilitate filming permissions for Dorset Council owned locations, and our local teams at country parks, harbours and properties assist operationally with local knowledge and experience. As a film-friendly council we seek to work with responsible production companies who recognise our role in protecting Dorset’s unique environment and support our ambitions to make Dorset a great place to live, work and visit.”
