A road closure was put in place as emergency services dealt with an incident during a performing arts show in Weymouth last night.
Firefighters, paramedics and police officers attended an address on the Esplanade after a member of the public had reported seeing smoke coming from a building between King Street and the Pier Bandstand.
Two fire engines, one ambulance and a medical response car attended the property whilst officers from Dorset Police closed the road from King Street to the Pier Bandstand.
Upon arrival it was established that the smoke that could be seen was coming from a nearby chimney and no one was in danger.
The incident happened just before 9pm whilst the Dusk Til Dark performing arts show was taking place further up the Esplanade.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: Our crews went to an address after a report of smoke coming from a roof and lights were on in the property.
"We mobiliesed our crews and investigated and it appears a chimney set alight in a nearby property gave it the appearance of a fire and no action was needed."
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 8.45pm on Saturday, September 28 from the fire service, which was attended to a report of a fire at an address on The Esplanade in Weymouth.
"Officers attended and assisted with road closures. No further police assistance was required and officers left the scene at around 9.35pm."
