A woman has been taken to hospital with 'serious' injuries after a crash in north Dorset.
At just after 2pm earlier today, there was a collision between a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Shaftesbury Road and Lockwood Terrace in Gillingham.
Police officers and the ambulance service attended the crash in which the pedestrian, a woman, was taken to hospital with injuries that Dorset Police believe to be 'serious'.
The road was closed for several hours as the emergency services dealt with the incident.
The road has now reopened.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 2.04pm of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of the B3081 Shaftesbury Road and Lockwood Terrace in Gillingham.
"Emergency services attended and road closures were put in place. The female pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious.
"The road was reopened at around 4.15pm."
