A yellow weather warning remains in place across Dorset.

The Met Office has announced that the south west will see heavy rain until around 9am tomorrow (Friday, September 27).

At present, the Environment Agency has not issued any flood warnings.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Whilst some areas will miss the worst, heavy showers and some thunderstorms will occur during today, potentially becoming more organized across a swathe of Wales and into central and eastern England during Thursday evening and on into early Friday morning.

“10-15 mm of rain could occur within an hour from the heavy showers during today with a few places possibly seeing 30mm over a few hours.

“There still remains some uncertainty in the details for Thursday evening and overnight, but some locations may see up 20-30mm of rain in two to three hours and perhaps 40-60mm in three to six hours.

“Given the recent very wet weather, this will bring the potential for further flooding and transport disruption.”

The meteorologists advise that people should check if their property could be at risk of flooding.

Additionally, people are encouraged to check before they travel to avoid delays.
