Trains running between Weymouth and Wareham have been cancelled due to a problem with a level crossing.

The problem between Wool and Moreton has blocked all the lines and also has seen the road closed in Wool.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised and South Western Railway says disruption is likely to last until 8pm.

A spokesperson for SWR said: "We have been informed of a problem with a level crossing between Wool and Moreton.

"This means that trains are unable to run between these stations.

"At this time, we estimate that disruption to our services will end at 8pm. All lines are blocked and your journey is likely to take longer.

"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."

Trains between Waterloo and Weymouth will run between Waterloo and Wareham and bus tickets will be accepted on the following buses at no extra cost.

  • Morebus 8 and 9 between Poole and Hamworthy
  • Morebus 40 between Poole and Wareham
  • GWR replacement buses between Weymouth and Westbury
  • GWR train services between Westbury and Salisbury

Replacement coaches have also been requested to run between Wareham and Weymouth, until these are in place, passengers travelling to Wool, Moreton, Dorchester South, Upwey or Weymouth should get off at Bournemouth where station staff will assist with onward transport, SWR says.

Traffic heading into Wool along the A352 is also experiencing delays as the road closure in place at the crossing causes traffic to back up.
