Staff and adults with additional support needs from a day service will be taking action to clean up an 'unsightly' area of Portland.
Groups and staff from Muntsy's - a commissioned day service for adults with additional support needs (learning/physical disabilities, mental health, sensory loss etc) - will be cleaning up Castletown on Portland.
This will include litter picking, tending flowerbeds and weeding.
A spokesperson for Muntsy's said: "For many years our groups have been involved in keeping the Castletown in Portland area tidy by litter picking, tending the flowerbeds, and the two boats, one of which is a community herb garden.
"Since Covid, we have found it extremely difficult to maintain the area as it has become very overgrown with weeds. Sadly, this now unsightly area, is the first thing that visitors to the island see.
"We have arranged a Castletown Clean Up day on Monday, September 30 where we plan to remove all the weeds from the pavements, overhaul and plant the containers on the roundabout and generally make the area presentable again.
"All our groups will be involved and supported by our staff."
In addition, ten employees from McDonalds will be joining them as volunteers.
