A woman has been seriously injured after a crash on a main road.
Emergency services rushed to the A35 near Kingston Pond in Dorchester after a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
Police officers are at the scene as well as the ambulance service.
An air ambulance was also seen circling overhead.
The woman has sustained a serious injury and has been taken to hospital.
There is heavy traffic in the area as the A35 has been closed in both directions from the Stinsford roundabout to the Northbrook junction to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 1.47pm on Thursday, September 19, Dorset Police received a report of a road traffic collision on the A35 near Kingston Pond in Dorchester involving a car and a pedestrian.
"Officers are currently in attendance with the ambulance service.
"The road is currently closed in both directions from the Stinsford roundabout to the Northbrook junction to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
"There is also a road closure on Bockhampton Lane.
"A woman has been taken to hospital for treatment to a serious injury. No arrests have been made.
"The local authority has been notified."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 1.41pm on Thursday, September 19 to a road traffic collision in Dorchester.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.
"We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital."
