AN ELVIS Costello fan has been left vexed after he received late notice that a concert in Dorset had been cancelled.
The singer had been due to perform at Lighthouse Poole tomorrow, alongside keyboardist Steve Nieve who was part of The Attractions.
The concert has been cancelled due to an 'unavoidable scheduling conflict'.
Ticket holders have been refunded but Southampton fan, Stephen Welch, said believes 'that isn't the point' and wants further clarity on why the duo didn't appear.
Speaking today, Stephen said: "We only heard yesterday bearing in mind the show is tomorrow so it was very short notice. It doesn't bother me because we haven't booked hotels or anything but I'm sure some people have incurred costs.
"What's annoyed me is that they've said it's to do with a scheduling issue, how can they possibly double book?"
Stephen had planned to attend with friends and drive there and back from Southampton that day.
Asked when he first became a fan of Elvis, Stephen said he had been a fan since he was a teenager.
He said: "He had a seminal album years ago when I was young. I'm 62 now but I was a fan of his in the eighties and I've not seen him before in concert.
"The cancellation is just a big disappointment and I don't see why it's such short notice. They must have known sooner than yesterday, it just seems they're treating fans shoddily."
The Poole date was the second date on Elvis' and Steve's tour which includes 13 dates of which three are in the United States of America.
The tour will go to London Palladium for two sold-out shows on September 21 and 22.
A spokesperson for Lighthouse said: "EC & SN had to cancel the show because the artists had an unavoidable scheduling conflict.
"All ticket holders have been contacted and are being refunded.
"Lighthouse shares the disappointment of fans. Our contemporary music programme is of great importance and this gig was a real highlight."
Asked if he would attend a different concert, Stephen said: "I'm not going to be travelling to the United States."
