A woman was airlifted to hospital after suffering a head injury.

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance rushed to the area of the Fleet shortly after 7pm last night (Thursday, September 12).

Upon their arrival, the woman was subsequently airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

Two double-crewed land ambulances and a critical care car were also dispatched to the incident.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance said: "I can confirm that Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended an incident in Weymouth yesterday which was reported as an adult female with a head injury. The patient was airlifted to Southampton Hospital by our critical care team.

"The team we provided consisted of a doctor and specialist practitioner in critical care, both of whom specialise in pre-hospital emergency medicine. The aircraft was crewed as usual, by a pilot and co-pilot."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 6.39pm on Thursday, September 12, to an incident in Weymouth.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a critical care car, and an air ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”
