A popular bar in Weymouth has enjoyed a ‘really good summer’ with plans in motion for the off-season.

As previously reported, the Sticks and Bones gaming bar on Hope Square opened days before the summer holiday started and offers a treasure trove of entertainment for all ages with its unique décor and array of video games and board games.

Owner Shaun Davies said: “We had a really good summer, it has all gone very well. Because we opened literally two days before the kids broke up, so we didn’t have much of a chance to ease into it as we wanted but it’s been great.”

Speaking ahead of the bar’s plans for the off-season, Mr Davies said: “We want to do more events and game nights, and we will have time now that business has started to slow down to do that.

“We will be having a meeting next week where we will be looking to revamp the menu for autumn.

“We’re planning on having weekly nights, and are working with the Weymouth Speakeasy group for spoken word nights, as well as introductions and competitions in Magic: the Gathering as well as other competitive tournaments."

Mr Davies is also looking into the possibility of a pub quiz and movie nights when the nights get darker earlier.

Trying not to give too much away, Mr Davies said: “One will be more traditional, but very suited to the surroundings of Weymouth, and the other idea is a bit more out there.”

When talking about the response that Sticks and Bones has had in Weymouth, Mr Davies said: “The feedback has been great, we’ve also seen everybody from all ages take part in different games. Someone said to me that it’s rare to see people on their phones there.”

“Thanks for the support so far, we’ve had a great variety of people in from all walks of life, and we hope to keep that up.”
