A memorial service will take place this Sunday to commemorate the 84th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Veterans and members of the public alike are invited to gather at the Battle of Britain memorial at Bowleaze Cove to commemorate the airmen who fought in the battle.
The service will be held in association with Weymouth and Portland Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) at 3pm on Sunday, September 15.
It will last approximately 45 minutes and afterwards, there will be refreshments at the (RAFA) Wings club in Maiden Street.
In 2020 a Battle of Britain memorial was unveiled at Bowleaze Cove.
It pays tribute to the 544 heroes who were killed during the Battle of Britain, a pivotal air campaign that took place between July and October of 1940.
Dorset played a vital role as airfield near Crossways served as a major fighter station and offered protection for the Portland Naval Base and other important areas of the south coast.
